London, 13 December 2024: Travalyst, the not-for-profit organisation founded by Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, has been recognised by two of the world’s most influential publications in travel, culture and climate.
Travalyst has been recognised in Condé Nast Traveler’s ‘Bright Ideas in Travel 2024‘; an expansive list of the players, places, and projects moving the travel industry into the future. Travalyst’s efforts to scale flight emissions estimates, as well as its certifications initiative, were highlighted in the entry.
Hot off the heels of the Condé Nast award, Travalyst’s Founder, Prince Harry, was named in the 2024 TIME100 Climate list of the 100 most influential leaders driving business to real climate action. The Duke of Sussex was named a Titan alongside other leaders such as Bill Gates (Founder, Breakthrough Energy and Terrapower) and Ajay Banga (President, World Bank).
TIME highlighted Travalyst’s work to scale flight emissions estimates, and the publication also drew attention to the not-for-profit’s wider mission. Quoting Prince Harry from Travalyst’s five year anniversary event in New York, the piece reflects on why The Duke founded Travalyst:
“As I sought solutions to some of the world’s most pressing conservation challenges, I quickly realized just how profound an impact the travel and tourism industry has…together we are proving that travel can be a force for good. So let’s continue this journey together and make sure that travel benefits everyone everywhere.”
Sally Davey, CEO Travalyst, said: “Thanks to Travalyst’s work, flight emissions and accommodation sustainability data is now seen by people globally when booking a trip on platforms they already know and trust. This dual recognition underscores Travalyst’s commitment to getting clear, consistent and compliant sustainability information into the mainstream, in order to help people make more informed choices.”
Long term, Travalyst’s goal is to enable the travel industry to measure impact accurately, target supply and demand interventions, and ultimately drive systems change.
